Remember when we first started this BurnOut Minute series, I was talking about the fact that most people aren’t (yet) burned out. They are just tired, exhausted, and overwhelmed by the amount to do, the thinking and probably overthinking, and the flow of sometimes negative and unhelpful self-criticism.
Hopefully, by now you have an overview of both the basics and the more advanced tools to manage your day-to-day operations, at home or at work.
For today’s tool, I find it useful to have a quick recap of the tools, just to know and make sure that you have them all at hand.
But before that, I just want to take some time to thank you all for reading this. I know that you are flooded with newsletters & all sorts of pieces of information every day, so thank you for taking time to reflect on yourself
Also, big kudos to everything that you are doing and to your interest in your personal development. I must say that if you do nothing more than to maintain that interest, you are already much better prepared to handle difficult moments.
Oky doky, now for the tool recap:
Tool 1/10 - Find your breaking point - the one where I tell you that everyone reacts differently to stress and to take some time to notice what are the signs that you manifest when you are nearing that point.
Tool 2/10 - Cover your basics - the one where we cover your body budget and how your inner accountant is jumping through hoops to keep your energy P&L balanced.
Tool 3/10 - Work your thoughts - the one in which you learn how to recognize and deal with negative and unhelpful thinking.
Tool 4/10 - Find your values - the one where you get a bit farther and choose the directions that you want to be meaningful to you and you make a plan to follow them.
Tool 5/10 - Ask for help - the one where you learn that asking for help is one of the easiest and cheapest ways to avoid getting burned out and you have a simple tool to formulate your asks.
Tool 6/10 - Make your life easier - the one where you learn about the difference between “have to” and “want to” do something - a big change in handling goals.
Tool 7/10 - Self Compassion for cynics - the one where you learn that self-compassion is not about loving yourself, but about treating yourself as less of an asshole.
Tool 8/10 - Live people’s goals v Dead people’s goals - the one where you learn to set live people’s goals - the ones that are realistic and kind, not the ones that treat you like you should be perfect.
Tool 9/10 - Saying ‘no’ - the one where you learn the basics of how to formulate a refusal like an emotionally sane person.
That is all.
I have loads of ideas about the next series but would love to hear your options & opinions. If you have any (I’m sure you do) drop me line at irina.paraschiv@acertivo.com - or comment in the substack.
